- Danh từ có 2 âm tiết thì phần lớn trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết đầu.
Ex: ‘father, ‘flower, ‘parents
- Động từ có 2 âm tiết thì phần lớn trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai.
Ex: to pre’fer, to cre’ate, to con’clude
- Động từ có hai âm tiết, trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết đầu nếu âm tiết cuối là các 
đuôi:
