1.Những danh từ đi sau các cụm sau không ảnh hướng đến “S”,dù số nhiều hay ít:
accompanied by, along with, as well as, together with
Ex: The actress, along with her manager and some friends is going to the party tonight .
2. Nếu một cụm danh từ được kết hợp bởi hai danh từ , động từ chia với danh từ đứng trước.
Ex: The picture of the sodiers brings back many memories .
The effects of smoking are extremely harmful
3. Các môn học, môn thể thao và bệnh tật tận cùng bằng –s, động từ chia ở số ít
Ex:Physics is my favourite subject
Mealses is an infectious disease
4. A number of + plural noun + plural verb : A number of people have come to the party
The number of + plual noun + singular verb : The number of students attending university is increasing
5. More than one + singular noun +singular V
Ex: More than one person has known the news
6. Neither/Either + singular N +singular V
Can you come on Monday or Saturday ? I’m afraid neither day is possible
Come on Tuesday or Friday. Either day is ok

12. Each /every + singular N + singular V
 Ex: Every room is being used

13. Tất cả các đại từ bất đinh đều dùng với động từ số ít : Everybody, everyone,nobody

14.Những danh từ sau được dùng để diễn tả một nhóm động vật nhưng ở số ít:
flock of birds, herd of cattle, pck of dogs, school of fish, pride of lion
15.Những từ chỉ thời gian, tiền bạc và sự đo lường đều ở số ít.
Ex : Twenty dollars is too much to pay for that hat

16. Những danh từ sau luôn ở số nhiều: scissors(kéo), shorts(quần xooc), pants(quần đùi), trousers, Jeans, tweezers(nhíp), tongs(cái kẹp), pliers(kềm), eyeglasses.Muón đề cập chúng ở số ít phải thêm trước chúng “a pair of”
