Practice Activity 1. Listen and repeat. - Open books or access sachmem. Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture please! What’s in her hand? Yes, it’s a bag. She introduces her bag. She says “This is my bag.” Explain the Whole class meaning of the sentence and how it is used. Activity 3: let’s sing - Open books or access sachmem. Have pupils read the lyrics to familiarize themselves with the first verse of the Whole class song, saying Now look at the first verse, please! Check comprehension. - Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat the verse, line after line, to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly. - Follow the same procedure with the second verse of the lyrics. - Have pupils listen to and sing the whole song, drawing their attention to the pronunciation, the stress and the melody of the song, saying Now listen and sing the whole song, please! - Let pupils practise singing the song in pairs of groups. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Have a few groups sing the whole song and clap their hands to reinforce the tune, the rhythm and the melody in front of the lass. Praise them when they performed well. - If there is time or with a better class, have pupils change some sentences in the Whole class lyrics of the song and perform it in front of the class. E.g. REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET: By the end of this unit, pupils can: - correctly pronounce the name of the letter S/s (/es/). - correctly pronounce the sound of the letter S/s (/s/) in isolation and in the words sail, sand and sea. - say a chant with the sound of the letter S/s (/s/), the words sail, sand and sea and the sentence structure “I can see the _____.”. - recognise target words and the sentence structure while listening. - write the letter S/s and complete the words sand, sail and sea. - use the sentence structure “Let’s look at the _____!” to suggest doing something. - sing a song with the sentence structure “Let’s look at the _____!”. - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to complete the learning tasks. - Self-control and independent learning: perform pronunciation tasks. - Show their love and interest in food. - Show their knowledge about choosing healthy food. - Be willing to help friends.
